Scripture

When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Matthew 6:16-18 (NIV)

Health

Feeling overstimulated?

Besides making it hard to fall asleep, too much caffeine can cause insomnia, nervousness, irritability, stomach problems and headaches.

To find out how much caffeine you are getting, try keeping a journal. Moderate caffeine intake is about two to four cups of coffee (roughly 200-300 mg of caffeine) per day.

If you think you may be drinking too much caffeine, cut back by one half-cup per day, not all at once. This usually will help reduce the risk of severe caffeine-withdrawal headaches.

C. G. Wooding Ministry Blood Pressure Screening offered every Sunday

The C.G. Wooding Ministry will be taking blood pressure screenings every Sunday. Please join them in the First Aid Room after the 7, 9 and 11 a.m. services.

Walking Tips: Gradually increase your steps

Start by adding 200 to 1,000 steps a day to your baseline (your average number of steps over a three-day period), depending on your level of fitness and your energy level. If you're just starting a walking program and have been inactive, consider increasing your baseline by 10 percent each week for a more gradual increase.

Slowly work your way up to your short- or long-term goals by looking for opportunities to walk short distances at home or at work. The more steps you can accumulate throughout the day, the better.
