Sunday is dfree Sunday.

FBC Online Team

Sunday Morning

dfree Sunday: Are you sending your college student to campus with a credit card? According to Sally Mae's "How Undergraduate Students Use Credit Cards" 84 percent of college students have credit cards, which is up 11 percent from 2004. Half of undergrads have four or more credit cards, which is up from 43 percent in 2004 and from just 32 percent from 2000. Since 2004, students who arrived on campus as freshmen with a credit card already in hand has increased from 23 percent to 39 percent. Only 2 percent of undergrads have no credit history.

Ministry Spotlight

The Junior Ushers' Ministry serves the congregation every 3rd Sunday at the 11 a.m. youth service. The youth are trained to set up for the preparation of service as well as to greet and seat members and visitors as they enter the sanctuary. Two objectives of the ministry are community service and fellowship. They serve the community by collecting food for the Franklin Food Bank and volunteering for Feed the Children Organization. They have fellowship during their annual pizza party, trips every June and farewell parties for the graduating seniors. You must be seven years old to join this ministry, which meets from 6-7:30 p.m. in the main sanctuary the Wednesday before the 3rd Sunday. For more information, e-mail Pat McMillian at trishmack@msn.com.

Did you know that this favorite summer vegetable is low in fat, free of saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium and is a good source of fiber and vitamin C?

Select ears with green husks, fresh silks and tight rows of kernels. You can enjoy grilled or steamed corn-on-the-cob, add corn to guacamole or salsa for a little crunch or make a corn relish by mixing corn with chopped vegetables, beans and vinaigrette.

C. G. Wooding Ministry Blood Pressure Screening offered every Sunday

Walking Tips: Set short- and long-term goals

Your first short-term goal might be to double your baseline steps (your average steps over a three-day period). Your long-term goal might be to walk 10,000 steps each day - the amount recommended by the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. Another long-term goal might be to walk for 30 minutes, which equals about 4,000 steps, on five or more days of the week.
