Worship is our foremost value. The purpose of humankind in the
world is epitomized in the Word worship. Worship is the adoration
of God through lifestyles through reading and hearing the Word of
God, singing in praise of God and talking and listening to God through
prayer.
Worship is the central act of the people of God. And so it is at
First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, where the written Word
of God and the preached Word of God are central to worship services.
The reading of the scriptures and the presentation of the spoken
work are poignantly complemented by prayers and sacred music, which
are integral to the communal praise of Jesus Christ.
At First Baptist, prayer, scripture reading, as well as music,
are integral parts of each worship service. In prayer, we offer
thanksgiving and ask for inte rcession;
and our musicians and choirs offer praise as noted in Psalm 98:4-5,
which says, "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth:
make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise. Sing unto the Lord
with the harp, and the voice of a psalm." Scripture lessons
are necessary for focusing our attention to, and developing a hunger
for, the message of God.
Regular public worship services at First Baptist Church are held
on Sunday and Wednesday. The purpose of our worship is to express
gratitude to God and to acknowledge that we know God as the Source
of our joy. Each Sunday, we call together four worship services
in order to accommodate our large membership. We are committed to
a quality experience for each service and place premium on effective,
stimulating, informed encouraging preaching and good music that
edifies God. When we worship, God gets the praise and we enjoy the
inspiration, motivation and the blessings.
