First Baptist Church in Ghana
Reflections Day Nine

Co-written by Tracey Lonon and Trashaun Andrews

Lasting Impression

Its Wednesday, our time here in Ghana comes to an end. We enjoyed this day of relaxation to pull together our thoughts and reflect back on 8 days of an incredible journey. We’ve learned more about the Ghanaian people and Ghana then any textbook or movie could ever capture. Most important we were there to listen and to provide help to our people. As the day went on we had the opportunity to do some sight seeing and shopping at various markets in Accra.

Later that evening we all gather in the hotel lobby dressed in our African attire waiting to be escorted to dinner. His Majesty Osagyefua Amoatia Ofori Panin invited us to dinner at the Labadi Beach Hotel, which was held in the Honor of our pastor the Rev. Dr. Deforest Sories. This invitation demonstrates the special regard in which Osagyefua Amoatia Ofori Panin holds Rev. Sories.

At dinner we sat amongst dignitaries, spiritual leaders and other professionals of Ghana. It was another great opportunity to establish association with others that we had not spoken with regarding the mission of First Baptist Church. His Majesty Osagyefua Amoatia Ofori Panin presented each member of FBC with an autography copy of Akyem Abuakwa “The Kingdom” by Nana Yaa Ofori-Atta and a DVD of “The Forts & Castles of Ghana” narrated by Danny Glover. The entire trip will forever have lasting memories in our hearts. What a great honor and privilege for all.
