We started the day with breakfast that was good. I had mango juice, an omelet and toast. We then set out to reunite with our roots in nature by visiting the Kakum Forest Reserve. Our tour guide told us all about the rain forest, the animals, and the canopy bridge (a single lane suspension bridge 300ft above the ground). However, he did not tell us how long the bridge was.
After a moderate hike; climbing over rocks and tree branches , we arrived at the canopy bridge. My first thought was “I can not walk across that little bridge without losing my breakfast”. Even though the bridge can hold up to 8 tons, I did not want to be on it with 19 other people in case I panicked and froze in mid step. Charles Corpening went first, Khristi Adams went second, I was third. I did not look down because I was SCARED. I was right behind Khristi. If she would have stopped, I would have bumped right into her. We got to the end of the bridge, the guide snapped my picture (I looked petrified). I was somewhat relieved. My heart was still in my chest and I did not wet my pants. We continued onto the next section of the bridge. I was really scared but began to pray that God would relieve me of the fear and He did. As Marvin Sapp would say “I MADE IT”. I did not see the stairs down from the bridge. Charles said there were no stairs because there were other sections of the bridge. I just wanted to get it over with. Charles, Khristi and I were like the Three Stooges, we took every step together. Charles said he could feel our breath on his neck. What he really felt was the hairs on his neck standing up because he was scared too. There were seven sections of the bridge. We sat at the end of the bridge to wait for the others.
An exciting day. We had a good lunch then stopped at an alligator park. The lady put meat on a stick to get the alligator to come out of the water. I wanted a picture but had my eye on an escape route. After a long drive in traffic we met with and ate dinner with our esteemed Pastor Soaries. It was a Blessed, exciting day.
